  1. Individual Printers

To achieve benefits of the Managed Print System (MPS) individual desktop printers are no longer purchased or supported on campus.  Employees may retain an individual desktop printer if it is approved through the MPS Solution Exception Form.  Areas for considerations include:

    1. Face to Face – example Student to Advisor
    2. Student learning experience is negatively impacted – example labs
    3. Business Critical Cases
    4. Documented, certified disability
    5. Unusual office layout
    6. Unusual distance from an available Multi-Function Device (MFD)

Bringing personally owned printers on campus is not allowed.

  1. Planned Phase-Out of Printers

All non-Sharp MFP’s and non-program approved printers will be phased out.  Printers to be phased out will not be repaired or replaced using GTC funds, personnel or technology.  Printers scheduled for phase-out include all non-networked desktop printers. See below for phase-out schedule.

Phase-Out of Individual Desktop Printers:

Effective immediately

    1. No new printers may be purchased; no support or repair service will be provided for printers scheduled to be phased out.
    2. No printer supplies may be purchased with GTC funds.

    1. All non-program approved and individual printers originally purchased with GTC funds must be eliminated from use at GTC.
